Britain’s Got Talent 2020 – Betting Update

The 14th series of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) is promising to be a real classic with some seriously talented (and some seriously wacky) performers taking to the stage each Saturday night.  The show is still in its audition stages (pre-recorded) with the live performances still scheduled for the autumn, government guidelines permitting.

Relatively few bookmakers are betting on the Winner just yet but Sky Bet, 888Sport and Paddy Power are but they are all in agreement on who should be the current favourite. NHS nurse Beth Porch is the runaway favourite to win with all 3 bookies.  The 25-year old paediatric nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London wowed the four judges and the audience with her stunning performance of her own composition, “You Taught Me What Love Is”.  Beth was already known as a bit of a performer after a video on YouTube went viral.  She and her ukelele performed McFly’s hit “All About You” to serenade her young patient, 3-year old Artie Vickerage – a year ago, and the public response was overwhelming.  But now she’s on the bigger stage of Britain’s Got Talent, and dominating it.  Paddy Power offer best odds of 4/5 that Beth will win the 2020 BGT.

In complete contrast to Beth’s solo performance, Sign Along With Us is a 65-strong choir whose members, 37 children and 28 adults, could barely squeeze onto the stage during their emotional rendition of “This Is Me” from the hit movie, The Greatest Showman.  The backstory of the choir is poignant – 19 year-old Jade Kilduff created the choir in her efforts to teach her 5 year-old brother, Christian how to use Makatron – a form of communication using signs, symbols and speech.  The youngster has cerebral palsy and he is also blind.  Jade praises her brother’s resilience, saying  “We were told Christian would never be able to walk, talk or even sit up, that he would be in a wheelchair for life.  But here he is, our little miracle, defying all the odds and making us unbelievably proud every day.  His perseverance is unbreakable and he is always happy.”  An inspirational message that touched the hearts of the judges and audience alike.  

The judges were impressed by the choir, with Amanda Holden commenting “This song is such an anthem for those who don’t feel a part of the world or anything and I just found it really moving.  It was brilliant”.  All judges agreed and David Walliams used his Golden Buzzer to send the choir straight through to the live semi-finals this autumn.  Odds of 4/1 are available with Paddy Power for Sign Along With Us to win BGT.

Sirine Jahangir is another contender to win the show.  The 14-year old performed “Salvation” Gabrielle Aplin with a confidence and musicality that belied her tender years.  Sirine lost her sight at the age of 10 but the youngster, who played the piano to accompany her singing, displayed enormous maturity in her performance, earning her a standing ovation from the judges and studio audience.  Paddy Power offers odds of 8/1 that Sirine will win BGT this year.

Another young performer, 12-year old Fayth Ifil, is also fancied to win the show, with bookmaker Sky Bet offering odds of 10/3 for the talented girl from Swindon.  Fayth earned a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell for her performance of rock legend Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary”.  

Magical Bones is a completely different kettle of fish.  Performer Richard Essien is a street magician and he astonished the audience with his innovative and dramatic performance that included teleporting across the stage into a new outfit!  After four “yes”’s from the judges, Richard is also a contender to win BGT.

X1X share the same odds as Magical Bones with the daring dance team, from Thane in India, impressing the judges and audience with nail-bitingly dangerous moves that are always delivered.  The 30-strong dance crew are a high calibre act and are definitely contenders to win Britain’s Got Talent.
