Request A Bet – How To Request Odds For A Bet

Online betting has come a long way in recent years thanks to the advancement of technology which provides bookmakers with an increased amount of real-time data. Now, not only do bookmakers know when a goal has been scored, or there is a throw-in in a football match, but they also know how many passes a player has made, the percentage of completed passes of everyone on the field, and much more. Using this data, betting sites are able to offer a wider range of markets and as such, now allow customers to ‘Request a Bet’.

We’ll be taking a closer look at what exactly Request A Bets are, how they work, which betting sites offer them, and how you can request odds for a custom bet that you’d like to place.

Before we get into how Request A Bets work, let’s first take a look at the best betting sites to place them with.

What Is A Request a Bet?

Requesting a bet, or Request a Bet as they are often known, is a type of service that some bookmakers offer in which you can request odds on a particular outcome, or series of outcomes as one bet.

Request A Bets differ from standard accumulator bets or Bet Builders as the all or some of the selections that make up your bet may not be from a publicly available betting market. Therefore you have to specially request a price for the bet.

For example, your bet might be on England vs Germany and include the selections:

  • Harry Kane to score
  • England to have 6 shots on target
  • Harry Maguire to get booked
  • Phil Foden to make 5 or more completed passes

This you wouldn’t find all of these betting options on a regular event page, but a bookmaker may still give you odds on it if you request it.

Which Bookmakers Can You Request A Bet With?

Many of the top online bookmakers allow you to request a bet these days, and they all do it in slightly different ways, although social media does play a large part.

Below you’ll find some of our favourite bookies and their request a bet services…

BetVictor #PriceItUp

Using the #PriceItUp hashtag on Twitter, customers can request football odds from BetVictor. They will then reply with a link which will add the selections to your bet slip. The maximum payout is £10,000 on single bets and £100,000 on multiples. BetVictor request a bet can also be placed using free bets.

Betfred #PickYourPunt

Betfred’s #PickYourPunt works in the same way but allows customers to request prices for custom NFL as well as football bets. The maximum #PickYourPunt payout is £5,000 and you can only place singles bets.

William Hill #YourOdds

William Hill’s request a bet service is one of the most popular and well known services in which people use the #YourOdds hashtag on Twitter to request a range of different sports. The markets are then added to the site for anyone to bet on.

Paddy Power #WhatOddsPaddy

Another hugely popular request a bet service from Paddy Power, which works in exactly the same as William Hill, with the bets and prices added to the Paddy Power site once they have been approved. They are a little more diverse than other sites though and you can be quite weird and wonderful with your requests.

Ladbrokes #GetAPrice

#GetAPrice can be used across the likes of football, cricket, darts, snooker, NFL and more with Ladbrokes. All you need to do is tweet Ladbrokes using the hashtag #GetAPrice and you’ll be delivered a personalised link with that market. The maximum payout with their request-a-bet service is £25,000.

Coral #YourCall

#YourCall from bookmaker Coral allows you to request bets both pre-game and in-play on football events and is exclusive to that particular sport. However, it is possible to tweet Coral’s official handle for odds on other sports.

Sky Bet RequestABet

Sky Bet coined the term ‘RequestABet’ and you’ll find them available on various football matches, horse races and other sporting events.

If you’re wondering how to request a bet on Sky Bet, you have various options.

Firstly, you can browse the pre-made Sky Bet Request A Bet offers to see if your bet has already been requested by another user. If not, you can tweet @SkyBet with your selections, remembering to include the #RequestABet hashtag. The Sky Bet Twitter team will then generate a price for your bet and upload it to the website.

Alternatively, you can build your bet directly via the Sky bet website or app.

Request A Bet Odds

Finding the best odds for the more popular betting markets is easy as we can use the various odds comparison services which are available for free on the internet. However, these odds comparison sites do not compare odds for Request A Bets or bets which you build yourself. Therefore, it can be hard to know if you’re actually getting value on your bets.

There are a couple of options here to determine whether or not a Request A Bet has value. The first way is to simply request the same bet with a number of other bookmakers and compare the odds. Although this will not determine whether you are actually getting value, it will allow you to find the bookie offering the best odds and as such, get maximum returns should your bet win. You may find that there are big differences between the odds offered by different bookies for these types of bets which is why it is essential that you compare the odds between several of them.

Another way to determine whether or not your bet has value is to build a bet which is already available as a set market. For example, you can head to a bookmaker and place a bet on ‘Liverpool to Win & Both Teams To Score’ without needing to build that bet yourself as there is already a market and odds for it. However, you could also build this bet by adding both ‘Liverpool to Win’ and ‘Both Teams To Score’ as a custom bet. You can then compare the odds of the two identical bets and see if there is any difference.

Let’s take a look at an example of this:

Here are the odds for ‘Liverpool to Win & BTTS’ at Betfred. The odds are 4.50 (7/2)

request a bet

Below, we have created a bet using Betfred’s #PickYourPunt feature and added ‘Liverpool to Win’ as well as ‘Both Teams To Score (yes)’.

For our #PickYourPunt bet which contains exactly the same selections as the first bet, we have been offered odds of 10/3 (4.33).

To conclude, we have been offered:

  • Set market odds: 4.50
  • #PickYourPunt odds: 4.33

So, why have we been offered lower odds when we built the bet ourselves?

We don’t really have an answer to this other than that it is likely that the bookmakers have a larger margin on these type of bets and offer poorer odds.

Does this mean that these type of bets are bad value?

Well, sometimes it does. However, the purpose of Request A Bets and Build A Bets are that you can place a bet containing selections that you generally wouldn’t be able to with a standard multiple bet or with a set market. Some of these markets can be hard to determine the true odds of and so it is possible that you could be getting good value in some cases. However, if there is a set market for a bet then we would usually recommend accepting those odds rather than building the bet yourself.
