Euro 2020 is finally here with Italy and Turkey kick-starting the competition in the opening match on Friday evening. Gareth Southgate’s England squad have a couple of more days to prepare for their first fixture of the tournament which takes place on Sunday when they meet Croatia at Wembley Stadium.
England are hotly tipped to do well in this tournament but their opening match is against the team who ended their World Cup dreams back in 2018 by grabbing an injury time winner in the semi-finals. It comes as no surprise to see Harry Kane as the bookies favourite to find the net first on Saturday and there are no less than seven players after him in the odds list before you get to a Croatian player. Other than the 0-0 draw between these two sides in the UEFA Nations League match back in 2018, the last six meetings dating back to 2007 have seen both teams score. We’ll let you make your own mind up about this market as Southgate has developed a very strong England defence which has conceded just one goal in their last six matches.
