You back a horse to win for £10 in a UK race at odds of 4/1. You place this bet in the morning and the race is due to start at 1pm. When the race starts, Betfred are offering odds of 3/1. Your horse goes on to win the race.
In this example, your returns would be £50. The starting price of your horse is lower than the price you took and so your bet will be paid out at the original odds which are higher.
As you can see from the two examples above, you are guaranteed the higher price from the odds you placed your bet at and the starting price.
