In this Pools review, we’ll be looking at the various different pool betting games that are available as well as other areas of the site including the sportsbook and online casino.
As the main focus of the brand is with pool games, we’ll start with these.
If you’re old enough, you may remember the pools slips being delivered to your front door by representatives on a weekly basis. Door-to-door pools games stopped a long time ago but has been available online for several years and is still an extremely popular game.
Playing the classic pools is simple. You choose 10 football matches from the list of 49 fixtures on the website that you think will end in a score draw. You’ll them receive points for your best 8 selections.
Points are awarded based on the following:
The aim is to predict which matches will end in a score draw and the most points that you get from your top eight performing selections, the greater your chance of winning a cash prize.
The jackpot prize in the classic pools is a whopping £3 million which is one of the games’ biggest appeals. However, there are several smaller cash prizes available depending on how many points you accumulate.
An entry into the classic pools costs £1 but you can purchase as many cards as you like for each round.
Goal Rush is another pools prediction game from which you can win up to £1 million in cash.
In this game, you are presented with 35 different football matches and you must select eight matches in which you believe both teams will score in.
Instead of receiving points for each correct prediction, the winner is determined by where from the list of the 35 matches, their correct selections are positioned. The winner is the player whose correct selections are the first eight on the coupon where both teams score. Of course, the matches in which both teams are more unlikely to score are placed higher up on the coupon which generally deters most players from simply selecting the first eight matches. However, you can do so if you want to.
The jackpot prize is a cool £1 million which is shared between any winners.
Also, should both teams score in all eight of your selected matches but they’re not the first eight on the coupon where both teams find the net, you’ll still win a cash prize. You’ll even win a prize if only seven of your eight selections sees both teams score!
An entry into Goal Rush costs £2 per ticket.
Premier 6, as well as Premier 10 as shown below, are extremely popular pools games as they work similarly to standard footy accumulators.
With Premier 6, you are given six football matches and you simply have to predict the outcome of each by selecting either Home Win, Away Win or a Draw.
If you get all six outcomes correct, you will win the pool, or a share of the pool should more than one player predict the outcome of all matches correctly.
The prize pool will be dependant on the number of entries but with an average payout of £1,200, it’s an appealing game.
Premier 6 entries cost £2 each.
Premier 10 works in a very similar way to Premier 6 except that there are 10 football matches rather than 6.
It’s a lot tougher to win the jackpot with Premier 10 but the average payout is a very enticing £18,000 for predicting all ten outcomes correctly.
One advantage of playing Premier 10 is that you’ll also receive a cash prize for getting 9 of the 10 outcomes correct with an average payout of £400.
Premier 10 is also half of the price of Premier 6 at just £1 per entry.
If you fancy your chances for an even bigger prize then Premier 12 may be the game for you. As you may have guessed, you need to predict the outcome of 12 football matches but the advantage is that the prize pool is significantly bigger!
Prizes are only awarded to players getting all 12 match outcomes correct and so there is the potential to walk away with over £100,000 in winnings!
Entry to Premier 12 also costs just 50p which makes it one of the more popular pool games.
Lucky Clover is different from the football pool games listed above as it is based on a lottery.
To play, select between 2 and 6 numbers from the 47 available and if you match them all in the draw, you can win £1 million!
To increase your chances of winning a cash prize, you can select fewer numbers as shown below.
The numbers drawn are based on the main Irish National Lotto draws which take place twice per week on Wednesday’s and Saturdays.
Lucky Clover lines cost £1.50 and so cheaper than playing the UK National Lottery.
Colossus is a series of pool betting games based around various sports such as football, horse racing, basketball and tennis.
The following types of Colossus categories are available:
Huge cash prizes can be won when getting all selections correct. For example, on the ‘Correct Score – Pick 6’ game, players can win up to £1 million.
You also have the option to join syndicates with Colossus Pools. Syndicates give you an increased chance of winning as you are part of more entries into the pool game and any winnings as distributed between members of the syndicate.
A good way to keep track of your pool bets is to visit the ‘Pools Results’ section on the website.
The results section features a list of all football matches that are part of the Classic Pools game and games are highlighted in different colours based on their result and the points awarded to players.
As well as offering several pool betting games, The Pools provides a general sportsbook where customers can place fixed-odds bets on a range of sports.
The following sports are available to bet on at The Pools:
The Pools Sports | ||

AMERICAN FOOTBALL | FOOTBALL | MOTOR SPORTS |

BASEBALL | GOLF | RUGBY LEAGUE |
BASKETBALL | GREYHOUNDS | RUGBY UNION |

CRICKET | HORSE RACING | SPECIALS |
CYCLING | ICE HOCKEY | TENNIS |
DARTS | MMA | VOLLEYBALL |
The range of sports available is excellent with everything from Football, Horse Racing and Golf available to MMA, Ice Hockey and Greyhounds.
As the sportsbook is not the main focus at The Pools, you may expect there to be a lack of betting offers and promotions available. However, head to the promo page and you’ll see a long list of available offers which include:
The odds available in The Pools sportsbook are reasonable. We found them to be on par with many other bookies and although they probably won’t win any awards for their prices, they are far from bad and perfectly acceptable.
Along with offering betting across standard sports such as football, tennis, golf and cricket, The Pools also has betting markets for various TV shows. They offer odds for customers looking to bet on Love Island, along with several other reality shows which are aired on UK television.
There is also a Special Bets section on The Pools website which features betting options on the likes of the US Presidential Election, the UK Prime Minister, the next actor to play James Bond and more. Some of the odds for these markets have been boosted significantly and so it’s worth keeping an eye out for any value bets.
Overall, we were very impressed with what The Pools sportsbook had to offer.
Head to the casino section of The Pools website and you’ll have the choice of around 500 different games to play.
A huge range of slots are available including many of the newest releases such as Chronicles of Olympus X Up, Pirate Pays Megaways, Eye of Horus ‘The Golden Tablet’, Wolf Guardian, DaVinci Muse and several others.
There are also several versions of Blackjack and Roulette available along with a range of online scratchcards with huge jackpot prizes.
Impressively, The Pools Casino also has a selection of Live Casino games which include Live Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Three Card Poker, Caribbean Stud Poker, Texas Holdem Bonus Poker, Baccarat and more. Players can also choose from various Live Game Shows such as the popular Dream Catcher and Lightning Roulette.

The minimum deposit is £5 and withdrawals take between 2 – 5 days to reach bank accounts.
Overall, we were very impressed by The Pools. Not only do they offer several pool betting games from which players can win several million pounds, but they also provide an excellent sports betting product coupled with an online casino that should satisfy the vast majority of players.
