We’re all familiar with the game Monopoly. It’s one of the most popular board games of all time and was first released back in 1935 with several variations having been launched since.
In 2019, developers Evolution Gaming brought the popular board game to life and it is now available to play at several online casinos.
Monopoly Live is a special edition of Evolution Gaming’s ‘Dream Catcher’ game which was launched in 2017 and also features a large spinning wheel with various sections the pointer can land on.
However, Monopoly Live takes the game one step further by featuring an augmented reality, 3D bonus round where players can win huge multipliers!

Monopoly Live is a simple yet very entertaining game to play. The live host spins the wheel and players bet on which segment of the wheel the pointer will land on.
As well as the segments containing various numbers, there are also ‘CHANCE’ segments just like on a Monopoly board, as well as ‘2 ROLLS’ and ‘4 ROLLS’ segments which trigger the Monopoly Live bonus game.
Before the live host spins the wheel, players have a number of betting options. These are:

Overall, there are 54 different segments on the wheel.
If a player bets on a number and the pointer lands on that number, the payout is the players’ stake on that number multiplied by the number plus their stake.
For example, if you placed a £10 bet on Number 5, if the wheel landed on a 5, your returns would be £60 (5 x £10 + your £10 stake)
One way Monopoly Live is different from Dream Catcher is the addition of CHANCE segments. When the wheel lands on a CHANCE, a CGI Mr Monopoly appears and presents a card which either contains a cash prize or a multiplier amount.
Cash prizes are awarded instantly and if a multiplier is given, the host spins the wheel again with all player bets remaining but all winners on their next spin will have their returns multiplied by the boosted amount.
Multiplier amounts vary but it is possible that the wheel could land on a CHANCE segment again and be awarded another multiplier. In these circumstances, their multiplier will be multiplied again! This results in the possibility of HUGE returns based on the players’ initial stake.
There are 4 segments on the Monopoly Wheel which can trigger the bonus round – 3 x ‘2 ROLLS’ segments and 1 x ‘4 ROLLS’ segment.

The Monopoly Live Bonus Round is when the game really comes to life and has the potential to pay huge multipliers.
When the bonus round is activated, players who have qualified by placing a bet on either the 2 ROLLS or 4 ROLLS segments, will be transported to the augmented reality 3D feature where MR MONOPOLY will make his way around the board landing on various sections and picking up multipliers and cash prizes.
MR MONOPOLY will start on ‘GO’ just as you would when playing the Monopoly board game and will move the number of places as determined by the throw of two dice.
If the wheel lands on one of the 2 ROLLS segments, players will have 2 rolls of the dice. If the wheel lands on the 4 ROLLS segment, players will get 4 ROLLS of the dice to move around the board in the bonus game.
There are two dice thrown on each roll and if a double is rolled, an extra throw is awarded, meaning MR MONOPOLY can travel further around the board potentially picking up more prizes and multipliers.
The majority of the segments on the Monopoly board in the bonus round feature multiplier amounts. When MR MONOPOLY lands on one of these segments, the players initial stake is multiplied by this amount and accumulates throughout the bonus round.
As well as the sections featuring multipliers, there are also CHANCE, COMMUNITY CHEST and JAIL segments just like on the board game.
CHANCE and COMMUNITY CHEST segments reveal a card which can either contain cash prizes, multipliers or SUPER TAX which deducts a portion of your prize winnings.
If you land in JAIL during the bonus round, you must roll a double in order to get out and continue to move around the board with your remaining rolls of the dice.
Monopoly Live is an extremely entertaining live host game, especially during the bonus rounds. However, you want to make sure that the RTP (Return To Player) is of an acceptable standard before playing.

Monopoly Live is a game of luck as there is no way of knowing which segment the wheel will land on. However, by knowing the RTP of each segment, we can increase our chances of making a profit by betting on the higher-RTP segments.
Number 2 has the highest RTP at 96.23% and so can be considered the best bet. It is also a relatively low-volatility bet as it is the 2nd most common segment behind the number 1.
If you’re looking for a slightly riskier bet which has the potential to pay bigger returns, then betting on the number 10 segment may be a good choice. This segment has the second-highest RTP at 96.02% and has a 7.41% chance of coming in.
You may be wondering why segments pay out a lot less than the probability of them coming in implies. For example, the number 10 has a 7.41% chance of landing but only pays out at 10/1.
This is because there is the possibility of a multiplier landing should the wheel land on a CHANCE segment. The multiplier payouts compensate for a slightly lower payout when these don’t land.
The most popular bet on Monopoly Live are on the 2 ROLLS and 4 ROLLS sections despite them not having the highest RTP. This is because you must have placed a bet on these sections in order to be in with the chance of participating in the bonus round from which it’s possible to win huge profits.
So, what are the chances of a bonus round in Monopoly Live?
The bonus round is triggered when the wheel lands on either a 2 ROLL or 4 ROLL segment. These have a 5.55% and 1.86% chance of coming in.
Therefore, the probability of either of these landing and triggering the bonus round is 7.41% or 1 in every 13 spins.
If you include the probability of a CHANCE segment landing, some kind of feature will be awarded every 1 in 9 spins on average. That’s a 11.11% chance of a CHANCE, 2 ROLL or 4 ROLL segment landing.
