Colossus Bets is a London-based online bookmaker that launched in the UK back in 2013. It offers a pool betting service with the addition of both syndicates and cash out, making it a rather unique betting site that has grown to become extremely popular over recent years.
In this guide, we’ll be walking you through the different types of Colossus Bets, explaining how they work, what you can win, and where to place them.
If you haven’t visited ColossusBets.com before, you may have seen the service featured on some of the UK’s top bookie and betting exchange websites. Betting sites such as Bet365 & Matchbook have integrated with Colossus Bets with site such as Betfair, Betway, Racebets and The Football Pools having done so previously. This means that if you have an account with any of the bookies or exchanges offering Colossus Bets, you’ll be able to get involved and place pool bets which have the potential of paying out lottery-sized jackpots.

A Colossus Bet isn’t a particular bet type but rather a series of pool-type betting options that are provided by ColossusBets.com to their own customers and the betting sites that have partnered with them.
The stake for each bet that you place is added to the pool and if your bet wins, the pool is distributed between all winners based on their stake size.
Colossus guarantees minimum prizes for all pools, which comes in handy should there be a lack of bets, and there are also consolation prizes for bets that almost came in.
Currently, pool betting and syndicates are available on football, NFL, and horse racing with various options available which we will look at below.
First, here is a short explainer video for how Colossus Bets works:
There are jackpot prize pools available for various football markets including:
For new customers at bet365. Min deposit requirement. Free Bets are paid as Bet Credits and are available for use upon settlement of bets to value of qualifying deposit. Min odds, bet and payment method exclusions apply. Returns exclude Bet Credits stake. Time limits and T&Cs apply. Registration required. 18+ gambleaware.org #ad
When betting on the Match Winner market of football matches, you can choose between:
Generally, the more selections that you make, the bigger the prize. For example, Pick 6 may have a minimum prize pool of £6,000 to share between the winners. However, it’s not uncommon for Pick 15 to have prize pools in excess of £1 Million!
With each of the above, you simply need to select either a home win, away win or a draw for the list of five or eight matches that are provided.
After making your predictions, choose a stake per line and place your bet.
If you are undecided on the outcome of a match, you can select more than one. This will add additional lines and increase your overall stake for the bet.
Another popular football Colossus bet is with the Over/Under Goals market. Similar to the above, you must predict whether there will be over or under a certain number of goals in each of the football matches listed.
In the example below, which is named ‘Pick 10’, you make your predictions for 10 matches for the chance to win a share of the £3,000 jackpot pool.
Again, you can select more than one outcome for each match which would add additional lines to your bet.
Lastly, users can opt to bet on BTTS pools. These work similar to the other betting options listed above except that you’re predicting whether or not both teams will score in selected football matches.
The ‘Pick 10’ option requires you to make your predictions on 10 different matches.
Horse racing Colossus Bets pools also feature with both Win and Place options available.
With Colossus Bets Place 6, you are given six of the days horse races.
You then have to select a horse in each race that will finish in a place position.
The number of places for each race varies and are displayed alongside the race meeting/time.
A single selection for each race equates to 1 line but you can make multiple selections on a race to increase your chances of winning. This will add additional lines to your bet with a stake being paid for each.
If you fancy a slightly more riskier bet, the Colossus Win 4 and Win 6 options are available.
You are provided with either four or six horse races for the day and you must pick the winner of each one.
The chances of picking six winners is relatively slim but this is reflected in the huge jackpot pools that are available.
A more recent addition to Colossus Bets are NFL pools. Users can now enter pools for:
Similar to Football Match Result and Horse Racing Win pools, users can make numerous match winner selections for NFL games. There are several to choose from with Pick 10 being one of the most common.
Another option for NFL fans is the Point Margin pools. These are much more difficult to predict than the match winner but have much higher prize pools as a result.
You are presented with a selection of NFL games for which you must predict the margin that the game will be won by and by which teams. There are Pick 4, Pick 7, and other games available depending on your preferred level of risk.
At times, Colossus Bets may give you the option to sell a ticket that still has the potential to win either a jackpot or a consolation prize. These offers usually appear after one leg of the pool ends and before the next begins. However, they can also be made when there is a break in the play during a live event, such at half-time.
Players can choose to accept the Cash Out entirely or in 10% increments. Colossus Cash Out lets you lock in a portion of your winnings while keeping part of your ticket active, giving you a chance to still win part of the jackpot or consolation prize.
With all of the above bet types, you get to make the selections and are in control of what you pick. However, there is another option – Syndicates.
With Colossus Syndicates, you team up with other users to place a bet. There is a Captain of each syndicate and they are the ones who make the selections and are also in charge of Cash Out decisions. You can either create your own syndicate to become Captain or join an existing one.
Any winnings are shared between all members of the syndicate based on their contribution in terms of stakes.
There is a Syndicate Leaderboard which shows the most successful Captains based on the profit/loss as a percentage of the total cost of their syndicate tickets. If you feel that you’re not knowledgeable about a particular sport or event that is included in one of the pool bets, you can join one of the leading Captains syndicates in a hope of joining a profitable team.
Another option if you are struggling to make your own selections is to use the ‘Smart Pick’ feature.
A Smart Pick selects the most likely outcomes in each leg which should give you the best chance of winning.
However, there is also the option to edit Smart Picks which is a great option to have if you want to make some of the selections yourself.
Bet365 is one of a handful of bookmakers that have integrated the Colossus Bets features into their service.
Currently, only the horse racing options are available at Bet365 which include:
