Who will come out on top is probably the most common question when it comes to any major tournament.
We’ll be analysing the top contenders for the 2024 Copa America trophy and highlighting our top tips based on our predictions and value offered by the bookies.
While picking the team to win it all is exciting, it might be worth exploring other related markets, especially if you can’t fully back one team.
Choosing teams ‘To Reach The Quarter-Finals’ can offer decent odds, most notably for teams considered underdogs. Other similar markets to look at include ‘To Qualify From Their Group’ and ’To Reach The Final’.
Lionel Messi and Luis Diaz shared the Golden Boot award in 2021, both having scored four goals during the tournament.
The Argentine legend has scored an incredible 740 club goals and 106 international goals throughout his career. Now just four goals shy of the Copa America record held by Norberto Mendez and Zizinho.
With 14 goals in 15 matches this season for Inter Miami, Messi shows no signs of slowing down and seems fair value at 4/1 odds with Bet365.
The favourite Darwin Nunez, enters the Copa America after scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over Mexico. In his second season for Liverpool, he netted 18 goals across all competitions.
Another notable goal scorer worth mentioning is Vinicius Junior, who scored a whopping 24 goals for Real Madrid this season. He also scored the crucial goal that secured Real Madrid the Champions League title.
With Neymar’s absence, Vinicius is expected to be Brazil’s key scorer in the Copa America. Most bookies have him at 5/1 but Spreadex is currently offering 7/1.
Argentina are rightfully the favourites to win as they are the defending champions of both the Copa America and the World Cup. Lionel Messi remains a fearsome attacker with plenty of fuel left in the tank and backed up by an impressive squad.
Uruguay could be the dark horse of the competition having beaten both Brazil and Argentina in the recent World Cup qualifiers. We could see Uruguay meet Argentina in the final, and after beaten the reigning champions just last fall, they are more than capable of causing further upsets.
Brazil, although second favourites to win, appear more vulnerable than ever. They showed promise back in March when they defeated England and drew against Spain in friendlies.
However, since then, their performances have been rather underwhelming, claiming just a point against both the United States and Costa Rica in their most recent matches. Therefore, we recommend avoiding bets on Brazil to win, especially given the current odds.
To Win Copa America 2024: Argentina @7/4
To Reach The Final: Uruguay @21/10
Name The Finalists: Argentina/Uruguay @4/1
