Cartmel is a small racecourse located in the county of Cumbria, just south of the Lake District. It holds nine racedays throughout the year beginning at the end of May on the Whit Holiday all the way through to the August Bank Holiday.
Although relatively small, Cartmel has been known to draw in big crowds and in many years, is only beaten in attendance by Cheltenham and Aintree from all of the UK jumps courses.

The Grand Veterans’ Chase is the biggest event to take place at Cartmel. The race takes place on the Spring Bank Holiday which is the last Monday in May. It is run over three miles and six furlongs and is an extremely popular raceday given the time of year and generally sells out at a max capacity of 20,000
