For the most part, betting online is relatively simple. The majority of bookmakers have similar layouts and run similar types of promotions which you will become more familiar with over time. However, there will be times when you will have questions. Maybe this will regarding a brand new promotion from a bookmaker, if you don’t know whether a bookmaker offers cash out or not, or if you’re unsure of how to watch a live stream of an event you have just bet on. That is why we have created this Bookie FAQs section to help answer all of those questions.
In this section, you’ll be able to browse FAQs for a number of popular online bookmakers such as Bet365, Betfair, Ladbrokes, 888Sport, William Hill and more, as well as FAQs for specific sports such as football and horse racing.
Here is a list of Bookie FAQ Categories:
As well as FAQs for individual sports and bookies on the pages above, below we have included some general Q&As.
Betting Odds
Why do bookmakers offer different odds?
Bookmakers make their profit from the odds which they provide, and each one has a different way of determining the odds which they will offer to customers. You’ll find that there isn’t a huge difference between a lot of the odds made available by bookies but these small differences can add up to a lot of missed profit over time.
Which bookmaker has the best odds?
The odds each bookmaker offers vary. Where ‘Bookmaker A’ may be offering better odds on Man Utd to beat Arsenal than ‘Bookmaker B’ is, Bookmaker B may offer better odds on Roger Federer beating Andy Murray. However, some bookmakers do offer better odds in general than others. Simply compare the odds of a bet you’re looking to place at a few bookmakers and place your bet with the best one.
Free Bets & Promotions
What are free bets?
Free bets are usually given to customers by a bookmaker as an incentive to either register an account or to place a bet on an event. They usually require you to place a bet with your own money in order to receive them and any returns from a bet placed with a free bet generally do not include the free bet amount (the stake).
What are wagering requirements?
Wagering requirements usually apply to casino bonuses but can also apply to sports bonuses. Bonuses differ from free bets as you usually get to keep the value of the bonus in any returns. In order to stop customers simply withdrawing the bonus immediately after receiving it, some bookmakers require you to wager the bonus amount a specific number of times before a withdrawal of the bonus can be made. For example, if you received a £10 bonus which had a x3 wagering requirement, you would need to place £30 worth of bets before being able to withdraw the bonus as cash.
Banking
What is the best deposit and withdrawal method to use at online betting sites?
All baking methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Debit card deposits are the most popular due to having funds go straight in and out of your bank account. However, alternate methods such as e-wallets prove popular due to the fast withdrawal times. If you have a preferred banking method, always check to see if a bookmaker offers this method prior to registering. We provide lists of deposit and withdrawal methods in each of our bookmaker reviews here at Which Bookie.
How long do withdrawals take to reach my bank account?
Withdrawals vary from bookmaker to bookmaker and also depend on what withdrawal method you are using. Generally, e-wallet withdrawals are the fastest and usually reach your account within a day. Debit card withdrawals are the most popular and take an average of 2-6 days to show in your bank. However, some bookmakers now offer ‘fast withdrawals’ to UK bank accounts which means you could have your funds available within an hour or two.
Safety
Is entering my card details at a betting site safe?
Depositing at regulated online bookmakers is generally considered to be safe. However, we recommend always researching the bookmakers you are considering registering with first to determine whether they are regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and whether or not they have a good reputation.
What gambling controls are there at bookmakers?
All bookmakers offer customers some form of gambling controls. These may include deposit limits, session reminders, time-outs, self-exclusions and much more. Online bookmakers take responsible gambling very seriously and now offer a number of tools and features to spot gambling problems and provide assistance of the steps to take when an issue has been determined.
