The online betting industry has changed in a big way over the past 10 years. The evolution of the Internet has opened many doors for gambling companies to target new players and has allowed those players to have access to a huge number of betting markets, advanced statistics, a string of new betting offers and much much more.
However, the fast progression of online betting has had an effect on brick and mortar betting shops as more people choose to bet online for a number of reasons. Better odds, better offers and of course, convenience, are the obvious reasons.
Bookmakers can still make money from their betting shops if they are able to get people in. Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBT) are a big source of income in-store but as physical numbers decline and new regulations come about, it’s becoming harder and harder for betting shops to stay afloat.
One way online bookies have come up with to attempt to lure customers in-store, as well as bet online, is by connecting the two together using ‘store cards’ or ‘cash cards’. These cards allow customers to deposit into their online account in-store using cash and also withdraw from their online account at ATMs instead of having to wait several days for their withdrawn funds to reach their bank account. They also often come with additional perks such as additional free bets, loyalty points and promotions.
In this article, we’ll be taking a look at which bookies offer cash cards and the features and benefits of each one.
The Paddy Power Cash Card PPlus is available to customers in the UK & Ireland and is a prepaid MasterCard linked to your Paddy Power balance in your online account.
As Paddy’s Cash Card PPlus is a Mastercard, this means that you can use your balance in your Paddy Power online account to purchase goods, drinks, food and anything else wherever Mastercard is accepted! There is no need to withdraw your fund from your Paddy Power account and wait for them to arrive in your bank account before being able to spend them. Simply spend your funds directly from your online account.
Paddy Power want you to make withdrawals from your account as little as possible and having instant access to your funds via ATM’s, and shops is a great reason for customers not to do so. However, it’s also hugely beneficial to customers for the reasons mentioned and so a win-win situation for all.
Also, if you are a Betfair customer, as Paddy Power and Betfair are owned by the same company, you can use your Paddy Power Cash Card PPlus to make deposits into your online Betfair account.
Here are the steps required to get a Paddy Power Cash Card PPlus

The William Hill Plus card works slightly differently to the Paddy Power Cash Card Plus and is slightly more restrictive when it comes to having instant access to your online balance.
With the William Hill Plus card, customer can use their online funds and deposit & withdraw in-shop. However, there is no option to withdraw from ATMs or use your card for purchases elsewhere. This means that if you don’t live close to a William Hill shop, it may be more of an effort to withdraw your online funds as cash.
One nice feature of the William Hill Plus Card is that you’re able to cash in your in-store bets anytime using your mobile phone. This is because your in-shop bets are connected to your card and so can be tracked through your online account. Cash out is an extremely popular feature and so being able to cash out in-store bets is something many customers will enjoy taking advantage of.
You can pick up a Plus card from any of William Hills participating shops. Then, simply hold it against the contactless reader on the William Hill Plus Betting Terminal and follow the on-screen instructions to activate it and link to your online account.
