A horse racing result packs a lot of information into a few lines. Here are what the key terms mean:
If you want to see the action taking place tomorrow, go to our live races page. There you’ll find racecards and a comparison of the odds from leading online bookmakers.
Missed a race? Yesterday’s horse racing results are available by clicking the ‘Yesterday’ tab at the top of this page. You’ll get the same level of details as today’s results, including finishing order, SPs, distances, and non-runners.
Results are added shortly after each race finishes. They are first shown as provisional and then confirmed once the result is weighed in. If a stewards' enquiry changes the placings, we update the result as soon as the decision is announced.
"Weighed in" means the result is official. After the race, the jockeys of the placed horses weigh in to confirm they carried the correct weight. Once the announcement is made, bookmakers settle bets on that result.
The starting price is the official price of each horse when the race starts. It is based on the odds available in the on-course betting market. If you bet without taking a fixed price, your bet is settled at SP.
If your horse is a non-runner, your stake is usually returned. If a horse is withdrawn too late for a new market to be formed, a Rule 4 deduction may apply to winning bets on the other runners. The deduction depends on the withdrawn horse's odds.
A dead heat is when two or more horses cross the line together and the photo finish can't separate them. Winning bets are settled by dividing your stake by the number of horses in the dead heat, then paying at the full odds.
Yes, until the result is weighed in. A stewards' enquiry or an objection can change the placings. Once the result is weighed in, bets are settled on it, even if the placings are later changed on appeal.
Yesterday's results, and results from previous days, are in our [results archive]. You can search by date or by racecourse.
Most UK and Irish meetings start around midday or early afternoon. Evening meetings and floodlit all-weather fixtures can run until about 9pm. Check the Today tab for every race time.
